(I = Inclusion)

The I-League (a proposal) calls for safe, fun and efficient scholastic sports league(s) to provide swim and aquatic experiences at schools without existing swim teams as well as schools with marginal swim team participation.

Problem

Many schools and students are without quality swimming teams, experiences and opportunities.

- Of the WPIAL's (PIAA District 7) 142 schools, only 70 have swimming teams.

- In Pittsburgh Public Schools (PIAA District 8) many schools have pools (more than 15) yet few have robust swimming, diving and water polo teams.

Benefits and audiences

Benefits for Schools

- Increase the number of varsity sports opportunities available for its students.

- Aquatic rehab can engage students athletes from other sports who get mid-season injuries.

- Easier, plug-and-play operations lighten the burdens on the Athletic Director and Principals with the Done-For-You deployment from expert I-League leadership.

- Sponsors, scholarships, tech tools and other resources can show up to aid the students.

- Other after-school activities can hook into the I-League programs and utilize the pool too.

- Rely upon trustworthy, responsible, trained, certified, safety conscious, accountable people for support in leading programs at the pool.

- Get aquatic curriculums, communication platforms, messages and whole-school assembly guests to help with promotions concerning water safety.

For schools

More student opportunities, a lighter operational lift, and a better way to put pools to work as learning laboratories.

For students

Learning to swim, competing, fitness, lifeguard pathways, instructor training, and belonging in aquatic settings.

For partners

Coaches, sponsors, safety leaders, teachers, and aquatic directors can contribute knowledge, sites, staffing, and support.
